Jewellery Care

Jewellery Care

We want you to enjoy and wear your Kuehaus jewellery for as long as possible. In order to do this, our R&D and production team conduct lengthy real world testing on all our items, ensuring long lasting jewellery at a price point we believe to be fair. Caring for your jewellery is also part of this process. The following strategies can help in minimising effects of normal every day wear & tear.

  • Last Piece to Put On, First to Take Off: Jewellery should be the final item you put on and the first thing you remove.
  • Avoid Contact with Chemicals: avoid contact between your jewellery and perfumes, cosmetics, sunscreen, lotion, and other chemicals to prevent damage.
  • Remove Before Bed: Take off your jewellery before going to bed to avoid accidental damage or breakages.
  • Remove Before Washing: Take off your jewellery before washing hands, showering, or swimming in chlorine or salt water to reduce wear and tear or discolouration.
  • Layering Tips: When layering jewellery, be mindful that metal-on-metal contact can lead to damage. Furthermore keep in mind that freshwater pearls are soft and can be scratched or damaged when in contact with metal, specifically, if rubbed together can lead to scratching and other damage of pearls.
  • Regular Cleaning: Clean your jewellery regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and mild soapy water to maintain its shine.
  • Avoid Impacts with Hard Surfaces: Handle your jewellery with care to avoid impacts with hard surfaces, which can lead to damage.
Storage
  • Store Separately: Keep each piece of jewellery in its own soft pouch (Kuehaus soft pouches are provided with each purchase) or compartment to prevent scratches and tangling.
  • Cool, Dry Place: Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent tarnishing and fading.
  • Avoid Humidity: High humidity can cause metals to tarnish and stones to become dull. Using silica gel packets to absorb moisture in your storage area can help with this.
  • Avoid Piling: Do not pile jewellery on top of each other. This can lead to scratches and damage, reducing the lifespan of your precious pieces.
